Self-Screening Tool

1) Has your organization received a grant from the Crowell Trust in the last five years?

YES – You may submit an application through the “Apply Here” web page.

NO – If you wish to apply for a grant, your first step will be to submit a Letter of Inquiry.

2) Does your organization align with one or more of the Crowell Trust priorities?

YES – Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

NO When Mr. Crowell founded The Henry Parsons Crowell and Susan Coleman Crowell Trust he specifically directed that grants be given only to projects with a strong spiritual intentionality. If your work does not meet this criterium and align with our priorities, please seek funding from sources that are more closely aligned with your organization’s purpose.

3) Is your organization registered in the United States as a 501(c)(3) by the IRS?

YES – Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

NO The Crowell Trust is only able to award grants to non-profit organizations that are registered in the United States and classified as 501(c)(3) by the IRS. We are unable to fund organizations that do not meet this requirement or have a fiscal sponsor that meets this requirement.

4) Does your organization agree with the Lausanne Covenant?

YES – Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

NO – The Crowell Trust’s mission is the “teaching and active extension of the doctrines of Evangelical Christianity.” When Mr. Crowell established the Crowell Trust he included what he meant by “Evangelical Christianity” in the Indenture. To comply with Mr. Crowell’s expectations, our trustees require that an organization agrees with the Lausanne Covenant.

5) Is your organization sponsored by or in a formal working relationship with a denomination?

YES – In order to maintain our mandate to further Evangelical Christianity in general, our trustees have determined that the Crowell Trust should not be aligned with any specific denomination. We advise those organizations that are sponsored by or have formal relationships with denominations to seek funding through those channels.

NO – Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

6) Are you a local church, or an organization that is managed by or shares facilities with a local church?

YES We receive many more requests than we are able to assist with our limited resources. In order to prioritize our consideration, the Crowell Trust relies on a set of guidelines to help us select those projects to which we can lend financial support. Local churches and church-managed organizations fall outside those guidelines.

NO – Thank you, please proceed to the next question.

7) Are you a ministry that serves a local population of a specific US city, county, or region?

8) Are you a pre-school or K-12 school?
